New Zealand javelin record-holder Tori Peeters made her Olympic debut in Paris after making remarkable strides in her international performances over the past few years.
In 2023, she showcased her talent by setting a new national javelin record of 63.26 meters in Yokohama, Japan. This impressive feat led her to compete in her second World Championships in Budapest, where she narrowly missed the final, securing a commendable 13th place.
Following her success in Budapest, Tori maintained her consistent form, captivating her competitors and the world with her remarkable performances on the Diamond League circuit. She achieved a podium finish in Chorzow, Poland, and later secured a second-place finish at the Diamond League final in Eugene.
Tori’s journey to the elite level began at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where she made her debut in the Black Singlet. Despite the challenging conditions, she managed to secure a commendable sixth place.
Raised in Southland for much of her youth, Tori now resides in Cambridge and is fortunate to be coached by 1994 Commonwealth Games javelin silver medalist Kirsten Hellier.
