About

Our Founder

My professional rugby journey began in 2019 when I secured a training contract with the Black Ferns Sevens. In 2020, I took my career offshore, living in Japan and signing my first full-time sevens contract. The following year, I returned to New Zealand and joined the Black Ferns 15s environment, which became my full-time profession in 2022.

Balancing amateur and semi-professional rugby alongside full-time study required discipline and resilience. In 2021, I completed my Law degree, and in March 2022, I was admitted to the Bar. Throughout my university years, I managed the demands of elite sport, academic study, and professional responsibility, all driven by an unwavering passion for high performance.

From 2022 onward, I committed fully to professional rugby, securing contracts with Matatū (2022/23), Chiefs Manawa (2024/25), and representing the Black Ferns on the international stage.

In October 2024, following my seventh concussion, I advocated for further medical investigation. A brain scan revealed a microhaemorrhage (brain bleed) and findings consistent with traumatic brain injury, specifically suspected diffuse axonal injury. After consulting multiple neurologists, I was advised that I would never again be cleared to play rugby,  or any contact sport.

Throughout my career, I experienced firsthand the gaps that can exist in athlete support. I was stranded in Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic. I navigated financial uncertainty and personal challenges. I sought global opportunities and career guidance. I had questions I wanted to ask but often felt that advocating for myself might be perceived as ungrateful or difficult.

Those experiences shaped my perspective. They revealed the importance of having trusted, strategic representation, someone in your corner who understands both the athlete and the industry, and who is willing to ask the questions you shouldn’t have to.

Athlete Advantage

I always knew I didn’t want to practise law in the traditional sense. Instead, I wanted to combine my legal expertise with my lived experience as a professional athlete to create meaningful impact within the sporting industry. I saw an opportunity to bridge a gap, to use both my legal training and firsthand understanding of elite sport to give athletes a genuine advantage.

Following my medical retirement from rugby, I founded Athlete Advantage a sports management agency built on insight, integrity, and strategic representation.

Athlete Advantage exists to ensure professional athletes are supported, protected, and positioned to maximise their value. Whether you are seeking expert contract negotiation, exploring domestic or international playing opportunities, securing commercial partnerships aligned with your personal brand, or building long-term financial security, our role is to advocate for your best interests at every stage of your career.

This agency reflects everything I am passionate about - empowering athletes both on and off the field. Alongside my legal career, I am committed to building a management model that is strategic, transparent, and athlete-first.

If you are looking for representation that understands the realities of professional sport and is prepared to advocate confidently on your behalf, I would love to connect.

She is a talented athlete but more than that, she has a mature and honest outlook on life. She shows empathy for others, has a huge amount of grit and drive whilst understanding the ups and downs of high performance sport."
