Liam Coombes-Fabling began his career playing sevens for Waikato, winning national championships in 2018 and 2019. In 2019 he was top points scorer of the tournament as well as being named player of the tournament.
He has spent time training with NZ sevens and has played in warm up tournaments prior to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2020 Liam debuted for Waikato at the age of 22. In 2021 he won a championship with Waikato and was the 2nd highest try scorer in the competition.
Liam debuted for the Highlanders in 2022. He moved home to the Chiefs in 2023 and has been with them ever since.
Liam is an explosive outside back with an exceptional work rate, while also having the ability and experience to play first five. He is a smart player who can control the game and offers a team first attitude.
